Arena Announces Free Skating for Emergency Services Staff this Winter

Arena has announced plans to give back to the local community this winter, with free ice skating for the emergency services at four managed ice rinks in London, Cambridge, Liverpool and Manchester.

In the spirit of giving back, a free ice skating session will be offered to members of the NHS, Police, Fire Brigade and Military from 18 to 20 November, when they show a valid ID badge to box office staff.

The three-day event will take place at the Tower of London Ice Rink, The North Pole Cambridge and Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival, as well as brand new rink for 2019, Skate Manchester Cathedral Gardens.

Kate Karagholi, Director of Marketing & PR for Arena UK & Europe said: “We owe a lot to the emergency services, and many of us are impacted in some way by their incredible work. Offering free skating sessions is our small way of saying thank you.”

Arena is also providing Scouts and Brownies with 20 per cent off group ice skating sessions throughout November, in an effort to encourage youths to get active outdoors. This offer is also available at Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink, which opens on 23 November.

Meanwhile visitors who wear a Christmas jumper on arrival at the four rinks on 13 December will receive 25 per cent off their skate session as part of Save The Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. Skaters will be encouraged to use their ticket savings to make a donation to Save The Children using one of the onsite collection boxes, to help raise funds to improve the lives of children through education and healthcare.

Rob Derry, Managing Director for Arena‘s Ice Division, said “We have been supporting some of these initiatives for a number of years now, but this year we wanted to formalise our commitment to delivering better access and making a real difference to communities with actions that really count.

“We encourage visitors and members of the public to get involved and spread awareness of these important causes over the festive season and beyond.”

Tickets are now on sale for all ice rinks. Free and discounted skate offers are not available to book online, and must be redeemed on arrival at one of the five box offices. For a discounted group session for Scouts and Brownies, group leaders should contact knoble@arenagroup.com to book.
