Skate Manchester Cathedral Gardens is excited to announce its partnership with the We Love MCR Charity. The ice rink attraction has made a donation to the charity which helps disadvantaged young Mancunians to build successful lives and careers.
Forming part of Ice Village, Skate Manchester is located in the enchanting Cathedral Gardens and opened on 8 November for a seven-week season. The new rink features a clear roof enabling visitors to enjoy a festive skate no matter the weather. Nestled amongst the Christmas markets and Ice Village, the new ice rink is the perfect addition for a winter’s day out with loved ones.
Rob Derry, Managing Director for Ice at Arena, said: “We are proud to partner with, and support such a vital charity like We Love MCR – they carry out brilliant work for the community. We believe in supporting local groups as much as we can, and have a range of charitable initiatives across all our UK ice rinks.
The rink is supplied and managed by international events company, Arena, with a portfolio of more than 20 ice rinks installed across the UK, including more than five managed rinks: Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival, The North Pole Cambridge, Tower of London Ice Rink, Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink and Skate Manchester.
Every winter, Arena employs hundreds of local workers, offering the opportunity to develop new hospitality and leadership skills, which often leads to full-time positions within the company.
In addition to the donation, Skate Manchester has extended significantly discounted tickets to selected local groups from disadvantaged backgrounds, opening up the magic of ice skating to the wider community of Manchester.
