Harlequin took hospitality to new heights at the Red Bull Air Race World Championship in Abu Dhabi, March 2014.
Staged in six countries on three continents, the return of the world’s fastest international motorsport series began over the Arabian Gulf’s sparkling blue waters of the Corniche beachfront.
Returning after a three-year break, this year’s series was the largest so far and Harlequin was tasked by client Blink Experience to install 4,000 sqm of event infrastructure. This included extensive temporary structures with full interior fit-out across the main race village, Sky Lounge VIP hospitality area and media briefing room.
Minnie Wallington, business development manager at Harlequin said: “We constructed a multi-tiered decking area right on the beach front to host the VIP Sky Lounge, with unrivalled views of the UAE capital’s impressive skyline. The lounge hosted a bar and BBQ areas as race fans enjoyed breathtaking views of the overhead action.
“For the Sky Lounge itself we utilised a 15m x 15m A-Frame with branded fascias, bespoke pergolas for the main reception, and 5.5m high steel frame cantilevers in the shape of tail wings on each corner.”
