Every year Vogue magazine hosts a fundraiser gala, the ‘Costume Institute Gala’ or ‘Met Ball’, for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute on the first Monday in May. The Met Gala raises the entire operating budget of the Costume Institute in one evening and signifies the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. The event is themed around the new fashion exhibit and attendees are encouraged to dress in line with the theme.

We have been delivering the iconic red-carpet tent & auxiliary tenting for this iconic event for 8 years, since 2011. The tents and red carpet that take residency on the Met steps every Spring have become an iconic symbol of the event as it is the only public-facing portion of the evening.

What we delivered

  • A custom 12.5m clearspan tent over the Met steps and red carpet
  • Nine additional structures tied to the main structure to house all the red carpet and necessary services
  • Three custom connections were created to tie the structures to the building
