Our relationship with the R&A and the Open Championship spans 40 years, and is one of our longest-standing relationships.
Each year, our experienced event professionals have provided bespoke turnkey solutions for The Open – from design and CAD services to constructing multi-tier hospitality structures with interior design/fit-out facilities, rental furniture, air conditioning, as well as temporary grandstands.
And, each year we try to improve the hospitality and event experience for attendees, working together with the client to see where we can make the event an even more memorable and comfortable experience than the previous one.
In 2019, the 148th Open Championship at Royal Portrush proved to be the largest Open we have ever delivered, supplying more than 30,000m2 of both single-story and multi-story temporary structures as well as a wide range of furniture for multiple areas of the event including hospitality, media, back of house, and dining areas.
“Now that a couple of weeks have passed and the clear-up is continuing and progressing well, I wanted to write to you and thank you personally for the significant contribution Arena made to the success of The 148th Open at Royal Portrush. This year we returned to a venue for the first time in 68 years, which presented us all with a great opportunity but also some unique challenges. However, by all contractors working and collaborating together, we collectively delivered an Open Championship that will be deemed to have been great for golf, The Open, The R&A, Royal Portrush and indeed the whole of Ireland.
I am extremely grateful for the support that Arena has shown to The Open in terms of the quality of structures provided and the timely delivery of the construction and derig. I am acutely aware of the hard work and commitment required to make The Open a success and please know that your efforts are appreciated by me and my colleagues at The R&A.
The Open continues to go from strength to strength and you and your team members should take great pride in this as it is down to the combined effort of all of us.”Johnnie Cole-Hamilton Executive Director, The Championships at the R&A
