Held in Spring each year, the Virgin Money London Marathon is one of the top six international marathons in the world. Not only is it an important race in the athletics calendar, but it is also one of the largest fundraising events in the world with most participants raising money for their chosen charity.

2020 Virgin London Marathon had to adapt to a different format.  What is usually a 45,000-mass participation event, became an elite only race featuring 30-40 world-class athletes, following a different route starting in Blackheath.

Safety of the event was of the highest priority. We proudly supported London Marathon Events to adapt to a ‘behind closed doors’ event, with the supply of 2,000 covered heras fencing panels, securing the site from public view, keeping media and competing athletes safe.

Arena have had the honour of being involved in the production of this iconic sporting event for over 20 years. In previous years, Arena are the trusted supplier of over 50 temporary structures, tiered seating and fencing & barriers. Complete with the start gantry, steel-deck AV platforms and all 26-mile markers, everything required to enable spectators to cheer on their loved ones from the sidelines, and help runners pass each mile with extra encouragement.
